What Can I Do for the Year of Faith?

You can read the Catechism of the Catholic Church with Catholics from all across America. Share your thoughts and ask questions in a group that includes a variety of laypeople and many noteworthy teachers and scholars.

Beginning October 11, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has said the Year of Faith “will offer a special opportunity for all believers to deepen their knowledge of the primary documents of the Second Vatican Council and their study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.” It has encouraged “the republication . . . of the Documents of Vatican Council II [and] the Catechism of the Catholic Church . . . and the wider distribution of these texts through electronic means and modern technologies.” Cue Logos with Faithlife.

For this Year of Faith, use Logos’ new social media platform, Faithlife, to study the Tradition’s texts in a whole new way. Engage with other Catholics as you read and comment your way through the Catechism. Ask questions, voice your thoughts, respond to polls, and share in a discussion with close friends and Catholics from all across the United States.

Getting involved is easy. Tell your friends, and delve into the Catechism like never before.

1)      Get the Catechism of the Catholic Church in Logos’ format.

Watch this video to see why the Catechism is better than ever in Logos. It’s available as part of a collection (recommended) or as an individual resource.

2)      Log in to Faithlife with your Logos account.

Keep your accounts connected so that when you write a Community Note in your Catechism, your friends can see what you said.

3)      Join the Faithlife “Year of Faith” group.

Visit Faithlife.com/YearOfFaith and select “Join” in the upper right.

4)      Connect to the reading plan.

Go to the “Documents” tab and press the Connect button to read along with the rest of the Church. It’s only 5–6 paragraphs per day.

5)      Download the app on all your computers and devices.

If you haven’t already, go to Logos.com/Downloads and get the desktop app for your Mac or PC. Then download our mobile app so that you can read and discuss the Catechism on the go.

  • I really blog also and I’m composing a little something comparable to
this excellent article, Just Blinds “What Can I Do for the Year of Faith?
    | Scripture Study Software”. Will you mind if perhaps Iutilize some of your own ideas?
    Thanks -Carin

  • You didn’t really mean to limit this to Americans did you? Seriously, are there any resources you recommend as discussion starters similar to the Study Guide for the U.S. Adult Catholic Catechism by Jem Sullivan. While obviously a misfit for the CCC in a year, generally Lectionary Index for the Catechism of the Catholic Church by Philip J. McBrien would be a wonderful resource to have in Logos. I know there is another similar book but its title escapes me.

    • Unfortunately, we are currently unable to sell the Catechism outside the US. Because of this, I mentioned the US restriction. Anyone could join the Faithlife group, however, and still view and join the discussion threads online. You would simply need to create a Logos account then use the same account to log in to Faithlife.

Regarding other resources, we currently don’t have any in Logos, but we are always trying to expand our collection and we appreciate your recommendations.
