Priests Love Logos

Today’s guest post is an unsolicited endorsement from Rev. Fr. John Trigilio Jr., PhD, ThD, president of the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy and author of Catholicism for Dummies.

As we prepare for the Year of Faith during this era of the New Evangelization, the Logos Catholic collection is indispensable and invaluable for every priest, deacon, religious or lay faithful. Pope Benedict XVI and our bishops have asked that we clergy reacquaint ourselves with, and reintroduce to our people, the documents of Vatican II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Logos provides those, along with the Lectionary, the Bible (RSV Catholic ed.), and commentaries, so that minds can be open to the sublime truths of divine revelation, be it through sacred Scripture or sacred Tradition.

As president of a national association of priests and deacons (Confraternity of Catholic Clergy), I enthusiastically recommend this product and urge and exhort my colleagues to use Logos. It has become my vademecum, as I can access my documents on my iPhone, iPad, laptop & desktop computer. Best of all, the software allows me to connect and link the Scriptures and Catechism not only with each other but also with the Fathers of Church, the Summa, and gemstones like Denzinger’s Enchridion Symbolorum (in English). For an additional (and very modest) amount, you can get the Collegeville Reference Library, which includes the New American Bible (NAB) and the Collegeville Bible Commentary from Liturgical Press.

Ongoing formation of the clergy is the prime objective of the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy, and using media like Logos is a pearl of great worth for any ordained minister serving the Church. The capacity and ease of upgrading is another asset.  What was once only accessible in a seminary library is now at your fingertips, literally.  Soon the Code of Canon Law and the Roman Missal will also be available, thus completing the foundations of the Catholic religion. The sanctifying office (liturgy & worship), teaching office (doctrine & dogma), and governing office (law) of the Church continue the work of Christ the Priest, Prophet and King. Logos makes those handy to help in the work of evangelization and catechesis. Makes a perfect birthday, Christmas, or ordination/anniversary gift for a pastor, parochial vicar, or deacon.
