Augustine’s The City of God is considered to be one of the most important books in the history of the Church, written by one of its most significant saints. And this month, you can get The City of God, Books I–VII free.
The City of God was written in the shadow of the fall of Rome, a declining empire and a civilization questioning the absence of its gods, with Christians being blamed for it all. Augustine, in what would become one of the first Christian works of religious theory, answered critical questions that still concern the Church today: What is the role of Christianity in society? How should the Church confront humanistic beliefs? How should Christians study and view history?
You can get the next set of books, The City of God, Books VIII-XVI, for only $1.99 followed by The City of God, Books XVII-XXII for $2.99. So for less than $5, you get the entire 22-book set of The City of God.
The City of God is also better in the Verbum edition, enhanced by amazing functionality. Important terms link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of other resources in your digital library. Perform powerful searches to find exactly what you’re looking for. Take the discussion with you using tablet and mobile apps. With Verbum Bible Software, the most efficient and comprehensive research tools are in one place, so you get the most out of your study.
Get Saint Augustine’s The City of God, Books I-VII for free, and all 22 books for less than $5— but only for the month of June.
Would you consider getting the newer translation by the Cambridge Text in the History of Thought series? It is an excellent, modern translation and far better than the one currently on Verbum. I’m reading the Cambridge version on Amazon Kindle but I would much prefer to read it in Verbum.
Keep up the good work!
